About
This exhibition is based upon the Bayliss Papers (MS ADD 273), the archive of Professor William Bayliss held by UCL Special Collections, along with related material on the Brown Dog Affair from the UCL Records, the university’s institutional archive. It consists of Bayliss’ experimental notebooks, as well as correspondence, press cuttings and photographs in relation to disputes between University College and anti-vivisectionists. The institutional records, currently uncatalogued, contain internal and external correspondence and papers relating to the Brown Dog affair in the 1900s; Bayliss’ son Leonard’s article on the events from the 1950s; and the erection of the second statue in the 1980s.
